Texture, My Dears

There’s lotsa texture in this one, my dears. I decided to do a little New Years Eve inspo for you guys. Where my procrastinators at? You still have time. Wanna know the secret to my look? I rummaged around in my closet and pieced this little number together. I love looking at items in my possession from a new perspective, and wearing them in a way that I wouldn’t normally wear them. New Years Eve is the perfect time to be a little tastefully tacky. Sequined anything and everything is totally acceptable. In fact, that’s a holiday rule I have for myself. Any and all sequins welcome, because.. well, holiday. The faux fur trend is hot, and you either hate it or love it. I feel that there is no in between. It’s fashionable, so I adore it. My brother said I was a mixture between Chewbacca and The Grinch, but you know what? I love the Grinch, and it’s fitting that I reminded him of  Chewbacca since the new Star Wars movie is out. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Am I right? On a real note, I was drawn to this particular coat because of the ombre fade to a  peachy pink. It matched the boots pretty perfectly, and y’all know I like for my fits’ to match. Winning with both of those pieces from the fabulous TJ Maxx. Of course, I added a little sequined something since it is a New Years Eve look. The shorts I’ve had for ages and just never really took the time to pair them with anything. I really liked the turnout of the contrast of colors in this outfit. It matches and “goes”, but it isn’t too matchy matchy. The tights I’m wearing have seriously been my numero unos when it comes to adding a little something to a black OOTD. They just add the perfect twist to anything I pair them with. I’ve been a real sucker for tights lately. All in all the feel I got from this look was exactly what I was aiming for.

Let’s talk a little makeup. Y’all know about my love for my Jaclyn Hill X Morphe Palette. Since it was a New Years eve look we were going for I decided to go bold with my color choices. The best advice I can give you for achieving your own ideal makeup look is just trial and error. Different things look better (and worse) on certain people. So, I say do what works best for you. Use that as a foundation to build on, and take it from there. That’s not to say you shouldn’t step out of your comfort zone every once in a while, because you should. Change is scary (in any aspect of life), but it can also be so rewarding. You never know what sort of things are going to look good on you, and you’ll never know until you try. So, I say start those New Years resolutions sooner rather than later, and step outside the box. Whether it be with a new outfit, a different makeup than you’re used to, or something totally off the wall that you don’t normally do. Decide what to be and go be it.
